Limbus Company’s eighth season is live, and it hands the story to the Sinner who says the least. Season 8: PUNCTUM began on September 17, 2026, pairing Canto X: The Gaze Bearing — Meursault’s focus chapter — with the game’s eighth Mirror Dungeon. For anyone who stopped playing early, the season’s headline is not its Identities or its E.G.O: it is that Canto X can be reached after clearing Canto I alone, an entry gate no earlier main chapter allowed.
What this covers: The contents of Season 8: PUNCTUM, the three-part structure of Canto X: The Gaze Bearing, and the unusual Canto I entry gate that opens the chapter to lapsed players. Why it matters: Canto X is the first main chapter in Limbus Company that does not require every prior canto, which changes who can play it and what they should know before starting. Who should read it: Returning players who drifted away after the early cantos, and current players planning how to spend the Season’s Pass and its E.G.O track.
Season 8 at a glance
The community wiki dates Season 8: PUNCTUM to a September 17, 2026 start and gives it two headline pieces of content: the game’s tenth story chapter, Canto X: The Gaze Bearing, and the eighth Mirror Dungeon, Mirror of Sisyphe. The same page lists the BokGaks of Spring Cultivation and Line 3 as also running during the season, so the season is not a single-story drop.
| Field | Season 8: PUNCTUM |

| Season number | Eighth |
| Start | September 17, 2026 |

What Season 8: PUNCTUM contains
Its new Identities arrive under a “World of the Grand Magasin Sisyphe” theme and a Haute Couture banner, spanning Ryōshū, Ishmael, Rodion, Don Quixote and Sinclair, according to the wiki’s season table. The season’s E.G.O are not sold on their own banners; they are Season’s Pass rewards, which makes pass levels the real lever if any of them matter to your roster.
| E.G.O | Sinner | Source Abnormality | Unlocked from |
|---|---|---|---|
| Repudiation | Hong Lu | Resident of Metropolaris | Season’s Pass, Level 30 (free track) |
| Mirror-touch | Rodion | Wandering Heart | Season’s Pass, Level 40 (paid track) |
| Hollow | Faust | Hollowed Man | Season’s Pass, Level 80 (free track) |
| Hollow | Meursault | — | Season’s Pass, Level 120 (paid track) |
The wiki’s reward table runs the pass to level 120 with an EX tier beyond it, and it documents a Special Package that costs 2,700 Paid Lunacy — or 1,700 Paid Lunacy if the Limbus Pass is already unlocked — bundling the pass, 10 pass levels, a Level Boost Ticket VI and a package banner.
Canto X: The Gaze Bearing, in three parts
Canto X is the tenth canto in the game’s main narrative and Meursault’s focus chapter. The wiki places it after Intervallo VII: Mnestic Experience and dates Part 1 to September 17, 2026, with Parts 2 and 3 released over the following two weeks. It is set in N Corp.’s District 14 Grand Magasin Sisyphe, carries an in-world date of 985-03, and is scored to the song “Rendezvous”.
The chapter’s literary spine is Albert Camus’s L’Étranger — The Stranger — a link the wiki draws out directly: it notes that the season menu’s sudden brightening references the scene in Part 1, Chapter 6, where Meursault holds a friend’s gun as the sun beats down. The chapter then runs in three routes, all documented on the wiki’s summary page.
| Route | What it stages |
|---|---|
| Ataraxie | The Sinners enter through an N Corp. Canned Suicide Booth and side with Le Noir to stop Le Rouge from creating a new Voice; the Golden Nail is forged from L’Inamovible’s spine. |
| Bon Appétit | The Sinners back Le Rouge and escort the newborn Crimson God, Pwie, toward the fifth-floor Restaurant, where Pwie matures into Buffet and consumes the Sisyphe. |
| Cogito | The Sinners stop playing by the Sisyphe’s rules, confront the Warden and then the Chaplain, and prise the Golden Bough from Jeanne. |
Per the wiki’s enemy list, the chapter’s final boss is Jeanne Sartre, the Sartorial Tailor. The three route names are not arbitrary: the wiki’s trivia glosses “Ataraxie” as the French form of the Greek ataraxia — an unperturbed state of mind — “Bon Appétit” as French for “enjoy your meal”, and “Cogito” as Latin for “I think”.
The setting: Grand Magasin Sisyphe
Grand Magasin Sisyphe is where the chapter happens, and the wiki describes it as a virtual space resembling a mall, where delirious customers chase the latest gruesome trends under the direction of managers called the Giants. It is a key site in the production of the Canned Experiences N Corp. is known for. Inside it, two factions are at war: Le Rouge, who seek to extract the power of the Golden Bough from the mall’s cracks, and Le Noir, who wish to keep that power sealed within the walls. Canto X’s three routes are shaped by which side the Sinners back and whether they keep playing by the Sisyphe’s rules.
The wiki also lists a long debut cast for the chapter, including Jeanne, Carmen, Heinrich Kromer, the Lady of the Fount, the Chaplain and Meursault’s Mother, alongside the Le Rouge and Le Noir factions and the New League of Nine Littérateurs. Two more notes from the wiki’s trivia are worth knowing before you start: the chapter’s 2D sections appear to be inspired by RPGRPG. Role-Playing Game — a game built around character progression, story, and player choices. Maker horror games, and the purchasable items in the “Symbolic” lean on surrealism — a piece of paper marked “A”, for instance, is called “A Nail”.
The entry gate: Canto I alone
This is the part worth slowing down for. Unlike earlier story chapters, which required the player to have completed all previous content before they were playable, Canto X is accessible as long as Canto I: The Outcast is completed. That is the whole gate.
To make an early run survivable, the game adjusts the borrowed roster. If the chapter is accessed early, the wiki says the player’s Identities are set to Uptie III — with E.G.O Threadspinning tiers left unaffected — and Meursault has access to Support Identities at Uptie 4 equipped with E.G.O at Threadspin IV. In other words, the chapter supplies enough of a roster to finish it even if your own account is thin.
There is a boundary on that route that is easy to miss, and the wiki states it plainly: completing Canto X this way does not unlock any content that requires completion of prior content, and post-Canto X content still requires clearing Intervallo VII-2. The chapter’s story is open to almost anyone; the surrounding game is not.
A secondary guide, HostedGG’s Canto 10 explainer, adds two details the wiki does not state in the same place: it says entry carries a spoiler warning, and it describes the loaned roster as level 65 Identities set to Uptie III. That guide is also where the argument sits that no other main canto opened its doors that wide — that framing is the guide’s, not a statement from Project Moon, so treat it as commentary rather than documentation.
Why the Canto slipped to September
A version of Canto X was originally scheduled for August 27, 2026. The wiki’s trivia records what changed: the production schedule meant the chapter would have shipped without voice acting. Rather than cut the voice track, Project Moon’s CEO Kim Ji-hoon ran a YouTube poll during a stream about the Canto’s release schedule, and 90 percent of voters chose to delay the chapter into September so it could release fully voiced. That vote is the reason the season starts on September 17 rather than in late August.
What to do first
If you are returning for Canto X, the reading order matters more than the entry gate. The wiki places Canto X after Intervallo VII: Mnestic Experience, and HostedGG says clearing that interlude first is what makes the chapter’s threads land — it is not a hard gate, but it is the difference between following the story and watching it.
On the seasonal side, two things follow from the season’s own structure. Because the E.G.O are pass rewards rather than banner pulls, the pass track — not Extraction — is where they come from, per the wiki’s reward table. And because Canto X’s early route does not unlock prior-content gated material, a lapsed player who finishes the chapter still has to go back for anything that depended on the earlier cantos.
