Once Human uses a territory system rather than free placement anywhere on the map. Players claim a plot of fixed dimensions (a square area, expandable through the Territory Expansion memetic in the Building tree) and all construction must occur within that boundary. Key mechanics:
- Territory core placement: Your territory flag/marker defines the center of your claim. All structures must connect to this or to a linked foundation chain.

Repair Priority
After an attack, repair in this order: core structures → load-bearing walls/pillars → perimeter walls → traps → cosmetic pieces. A breached load-bearing wall can cascade into structural collapse, so always check support chains first.
Offline Defense
Anomalies can attack your base while you are offline, particularly during triggered purification events. Passive defenses (traps, turrets with stored ammo) are your only protection during those periods. For offline periods:
- Stock turrets with ammunition.
- Fill trap corridors.
