The Year 4 Character Pass has been on sale since 5 June 2026 at $29.99, and as of the end of October two of the four fighters it promises are in the game. That makes the pass a product you can judge rather than a pre-order you have to guess at — and the question a buyer asks first, what does each character cost, is the one Capcom has never answered on a store page.

This piece does that arithmetic, and then explains why the last step of it cannot be finished from public numbers. It is not another Yasmine or Arjun explainer: the Yasmine primer covers her moveset and Bayani Mode, and the Arjun release write-up covers his arrival. Neither prices anything, and both were published before the second fighter shipped and the pass could be measured against its own calendar.

What this covers: every Street Fighter 6 purchase option that carries a printed price, the per-character cost inside each of the four seasonal passes, and the exact difference between the Character and Ultimate tiers. Why it matters: the pass charges full price up front and delivers across four seasonal windows running to spring 2027, so the money decision and the delivery risk are the same decision. Who should care: anyone who owns the base game and is weighing the Year 4 pass, an Ultimate Pass, or a single character — and anyone who saw the pass listed as “free” on a character page and wants to know what that actually means.

What is actually on sale

Everything below is US Steam pricing in USD, read on 29 October 2026. Street Fighter 6 also ships on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2, and Steam lists cross-platform multiplayer as a feature, so the PC prices are a proxy for the console stores rather than the only number in existence.

The pass is content, not a game: its store page states that it requires the base game to play. There is no Year 3 or Year 4 content in the Years 1-2 Fighters Edition, so a player who buys that bundle in October 2026 still does not own eight of the sixteen seasonal characters.

The per-character maths, across four years

The Character Pass has cost $29.99 in every year of the game’s life, for four characters each time. That is the most stable number in Street Fighter 6’s commercial history, and it makes the pass comparable across years in a way the Ultimate tiers are not.

PassCharacter PassFightersPer fighterUltimate PassPer fighterExtras in Ultimate
Year 1 (Jun 2023)$29.99Rashid, A.K.I., Ed, Akuma$7.50$49.99$12.50Outfits 2 and 3, 2 stages, 7,700 Drive Tickets

Year 4 (Jun 2026)$29.99Yasmine, Arjun, Tifa, Bosch$7.50$45.99$11.50Outfits 2 and 3, no stage listed, 5,800 Drive Tickets

The per-fighter column is my division of the listed price by four. Capcom has never printed a per-character figure, and it is only valid once all four characters are delivered — which is exactly the caveat that matters for Year 4 today.

Two patterns fall out of the table. The Ultimate premium over the Character Pass has narrowed every year: $20.00 in Years 1 and 2, $18.00 in Year 3, $16.00 in Year 4. And the Ultimate tier has shed the thing that used to distinguish it beyond cosmetics. The Year 1 and Year 2 Ultimate Passes each listed two additional stages; Year 3 listed one; the Year 4 Ultimate Pass description lists outfits and Drive Tickets and no stage at all. A player upgrading this year is buying costumes, not arenas.

The Drive Ticket bonus shrank once too, and stayed shrunk. Character Passes in Years 1 and 2 bundled 4,200 Drive Tickets; Years 3 and 4 bundle 3,000. The Year 4 reveal announcement breaks the Ultimate figure down as the Character Pass content plus outfit sets and “an additional 2,800 Drive Tickets”, which is how the store page arrives at 5,800.

There is no per-character price to look up

This is the part of the question that has no public answer, and it is worth being blunt about why.

Street Fighter 6’s Steam content list holds eleven items: eight seasonal passes (a Character and an Ultimate tier for each of four years) and three soundtrack releases. There is no standalone fighter among them. Capcom’s route for a single character is in-game currency — both character announcements say the same thing. Yasmine: “You can also obtain her individually using Fighter Coins in-game.” Arjun: “If you own the Year 4 Character Pass or Year 4 Ultimate Pass, Arjun will be automatically added to your game upon release. You can also obtain him individually using Fighter Coins in-game.”

No page I read prints how many Fighter Coins a character costs, or what a Fighter Coin bundle costs in real money. So this guide does not assert a figure. A player comparing “one character” against “$29.99 for four” is comparing a printed price to an unprinted one, and the honest advice is to check the in-game shop on the day rather than trust a number from a guide.

That is also why the word “free” is misleading on character pages. A pass route is free at the moment of release only because the pass was paid for in June. Our Tekken 8 season pass breakdown can quote per-fighter store prices because that game sells them individually; Street Fighter 6 does not, which is the single biggest structural difference between the two passes and the reason the value case here rests on the pass tier alone.

The calendar is the real cost

The Year 4 pass charges in full before most of its contents exist. Its published schedule:

  • Yasmine — Summer 2026, released 3 August 2026.
  • Arjun — Autumn 2026, released 13 October 2026.
  • Tifa — Early 2027, no date.
  • Bosch — Spring 2027, no date.

Tifa is a guest from the FINAL FANTASY VII Remake series and the reveal announcement carries a Square Enix copyright line alongside Capcom’s; Yasmine and Arjun are described there as the two brand new fighters, and Bosch comes from World Tour, where he is the second protagonist. A buyer in October 2026 is therefore paying $29.99 for two delivered characters and two windows, one of which can be six months out. Nothing published says pass holders get early access to either, and nothing says whether Tifa or Bosch will arrive with a balance update — Yasmine’s own release post was the one that announced battle adjustments for all characters alongside a fighter, and Arjun’s post did not mention them at all.

That is not an argument against the pass. It is an argument for not treating it as a purchase you can evaluate in November. The game itself is not winding down: Capcom reported over seven million copies sold worldwide in June 2026, and the official site still leads with that figure.

Drive Tickets and the Fighting Pass are not part of this

Two things routinely get folded into the pass conversation and should not be.

Drive Tickets are the bonus the pass bundles, not a discount on it. One shop announcement makes a specific point of them: sale discounts “do not apply when obtaining items with Drive Tickets”. So the ticket totals are fixed value, unaffected by whatever sale is running.

The Fighting Pass is separate money. It is purchased “from the in-game shop using Fighter Coins”, and the same notices state that avatar gear from it “is cosmetic only and does not affect character fighting attributes”. Buying the Year 4 Ultimate Pass does not buy Fighting Passes; a pass holder still pays Fighter Coins for each themed rotation, and gets avatar cosmetics for it rather than anything that touches a match.

Trying before you buy

Street Fighter 6 has a documented mechanism for testing a character you do not own: Rental Fighter Tickets. The February 2026 campaign granted four of them to players who logged in between 10 and 25 February, each giving one hour of play with a chosen character in Fighting Ground or Battle Hub, with one stated limit — rented fighters “cannot be used to join tournaments in the Battle Hub”.

That specific window has closed, so the practical note is the mechanism rather than the campaign: rentals exist, they come from login promotions, and they are the cheapest way to decide whether a single Year 4 fighter is worth an in-game purchase before you spend. The same February post also put the Year 1 and Year 2 Character and Ultimate Passes on a limited-time discount, which is the clearest evidence in the record that these passes do get discounted — a reason to set a price alert rather than buy on impulse if you are not in a hurry.

Which purchase order fits you

If you…BuyWhy
Own nothingBase game, $39.99The 18-fighter roster and three modes come first; the Year 4 pass buys fighters you cannot use without the game
Own the base game and want exactly one Year 4 fighterThat fighter, in-game with Fighter CoinsThe pass is four characters at $29.99; one character is priced in a currency Capcom does not publish
Want two or more of Yasmine, Arjun, Tifa and BoschYear 4 Character Pass, $29.99$7.50 per fighter once all four ship, and the two new characters are already out
Want the outfits as wellYear 4 Ultimate Pass, $45.99$16 more than the Character Pass for Outfit 2 and Outfit 3 at colours 1-10 on all four
Are starting fresh and want the biggest rosterYears 1-2 Fighters Edition, $59.99, then Year 3 and Year 4 passesCheapest route to the base game plus two passes, but it stops at Year 2
Only want to sample before committingWait for a Rental Fighter promotionOne hour per ticket, no Battle Hub tournaments, no purchase

The one combination no bundle covers is Year 3 plus Year 4. A player who wants the current roster in full is buying the $59.99 edition and two $29.99 passes, and the pass discounts are the only lever on that total.

What is not confirmed

Four things stay open after reading every page cited here. The Fighter Coin price of a single Year 4 character, and the real-money price of Fighter Coins, are not published anywhere I could fetch. Tifa and Bosch have seasonal windows and no dates. No page states whether the Year 4 Ultimate Pass includes a stage — the Year 1, 2 and 3 Ultimate descriptions each listed stages and the Year 4 one does not, which reads as an omission rather than a confirmed absence. And no page states whether pass holders get early access to Tifa or Bosch.

Treat the calendar as the firmest fact in this piece and the per-character price as the softest. The pass is half delivered, the two characters still to come are the guest and the World Tour lead, and the tier that used to include stages now includes costumes.
