Shiro Games has released Community Update 7 for Wartales, its medieval open-world tactical RPGRPG. Crime, Chaos, and The Lair
Community Update 7 expands the Crime and Chaos playstyles with a new hub location called The Lair. Players who accumulate sufficient suspicion can locate The Lair through informants, establishing a hideout for criminal operations. From there, warbands can fence stolen goods, accept criminal bounties, acquire exclusive weapons, and manage suspicion levels.
The prisoner system also receives a substantial overhaul. Captives now have a dedicated skill tree alongside needs and desires tied to their traits. Warchiefs gain direct control over prisoners in both camp and combat scenarios. Prisoners also feature hidden objectives that, once revealed, can be used to manipulate their trust levels.
Content and Quality-of-Life Additions
Beyond the criminal systems, the update delivers three new armor sets obtainable from wandering merchants, six new battle maps spanning the regions of Alazar, Harag, Gosenberg, and Edoran, and personal mercenary quests tailored to individual characters.
Quality-of-life changes include a redesigned character sheet that splits information across three tabs for improved readability. A new End Round button lets players skip the turns of all units that have not yet acted, with the option to cancel at any time. The update also incorporates numerous bug fixes and additional improvements.
The Curse of Rigel Arrives on Xbox
Console players can now access Wartales - Expansion: The Curse of Rigel via the Xbox Store. The expansion transports warbands to the dark Weald region of County Rigel, where the Sylve Forest’s dense canopy blocks all sunlight. Players investigate a series of murders, combat corrupted predators, and manage the party’s light and sanity as resources dwindle.
On PC, a Steam Midweek sale currently offers the Wartales base game at a 72% discount, with up to 35% off all DLC.
