Bloons TD 6 shipped Update 57.0 on 8 October 2026, and it is a patch with three separate jobs: a new Paragon, a Supply Drop upgrade that finally has something to do in CHIMPS, and a rebuild of the Insta-Monkey collection loop that takes the randomised packs out of the store. The notes also cut a whole category out of the Paragon degree calculation, which matters to anybody who builds degrees rather than towers.
This site has no Bloons TD 6 coverage at all, so this page is not a second pass at an existing piece. The nearest neighbour in the archive is the Deadlock Station positioning primer, a different genre and a different question. What this article adds is the arithmetic: which numbers the 8 October notes print, what the community wiki supplies where the notes are silent, and where the two disagree.
What this covers: Update 57.0’s Sniper Monkey Paragon, its two activated abilities, the Elite Targeting relay that touches every other Sniper, the Supply Drop toggle, Insta-Monkeys v2 and the Paragon degree change. Why it matters: the Supply Drop rework gives a Sniper ability a job in CHIMPS, and the degree change alters how a Paragon is built rather than how it performs. Who should care: anyone planning a CHIMPS run, players who push Paragon degrees for Boss events, and lapsed owners deciding whether 57.0 is worth reinstalling for.
Update 57.0 at a glance
| Area | What the notes say | What it changes in practice |
|---|---|---|
| Sniper Monkey Paragon | New Paragon with a slow, high-damage heavy-calibre shot that bounces, ramps and sprays shrapnel | A single-target Paragon that still contributes area damage |
| Supply Drop | x4x ability gains an Ammo Drop, toggled against Cash Drop with the same cooldown | The Sniper’s income upgrade now has a damage mode |
| Insta-Monkeys | “All randomized insta-monkey IAP packs have been removed from the store” | Collection shifts from blind packs to a rotating store and a limited challenge |
| Paragon degrees | Extra tower tiers stop contributing; cash and damage caps rise | Degrees must be earned from pops, income and investment instead of tower spam |
| Engine | “Updated to Unity 6.3” | A build-wide change the notes flag as a risk surface |
| Content | New Advanced map Ship Capture, a three-part Mastery Mode quest, Trophy Store items | Map and cosmetic variety, no new tower |
The Sniper Monkey Paragon, as the notes describe it
The Core Features section opens with “New Paragon, you asked for it, the Sniper Monkey Paragon!” and then explains the design constraint rather than the fiction: “completely bottlenecking Bloons at the entrance really doesn’t look cool, and if any tower is going to claim this title then Sniper should be THE single-target king.”
That sentence is the whole brief for the tower. The main attack is a “heavy-caliber shot that bounces to an extra target, with a slow rate that ramps up as Bloons approach the exit, and even faster while maintaining consecutive shots against the same target.” On impact, “shrapnel sprays outward and after a short delay whizzes toward nearby Bloons to explode and trim down large groups.” So the damage profile is inverted from most Paragons: worst when the track is empty at the spawn point, best when a leak is imminent and the shot has stacked its rate bonus.
The Core Features section never prints the Paragon’s proper name. The wiki does, and the notes’ closing line uses the same name when it tells readers to “have a play at S.P.I.D.E.R. Monkey Paragon”, so S.P.I.D.E.R. Monkey is the term to search if you want the community pages. The wiki also counts it as the fourteenth Paragon and lists the upgrade cost by difficulty — $680,000 Easy, $800,000 Medium, $864,000 Hard, $960,000 Impoppable — plus a 750,000 XP unlock, none of which appears in the official notes, so treat those figures as wiki numbers rather than Ninja Kiwi’s.
Elite Targeting is the part that reaches other towers
The Paragon’s utility claim is not its own damage. It is the targeting relay. “Sitting atop a high watchtower with an unobstructed view, the paragon relays a view of the battlefield to other snipers through Elite Targeting. Other snipers can be set to follow command, focusing on the Paragon’s primary target, or left to fire independently.”
The wiki fills in the consequence: all other Snipers gain a targeting option that uses the Paragon’s target and ignores line of sight, and the Paragon’s attacks apply a debuff marker that increases damage taken from all sources. It also reports six homing shrapnel per bullet hit including each bounce, a stun on normal and MOAB-class Bloons, and a once-per-round crate drop that pays a fixed number of bananas at a fixed value each. Those are wiki figures; the notes describe the behaviour without printing the numbers.
The two activated abilities are where the notes are explicit, and they are why the Supply Drop rework exists.
| Ability | What the notes say it does | Cost of using it |
|---|---|---|
| Ability 1 | Takes Offensive Supply Drop “to a higher level, lasting without the limited shot count and supercharging nearby Shrapnel snipers” — described as “a much needed AoE burst safety net” | Shares the Sniper’s ability cooldown with the other Supply Drop mode |
| Ability 2 | Locks onto the strongest Bloon on screen, charges, then releases a blast that either breaks “through to the next Boss Skull or annihilate the target in a single shot” | The tower stops doing anything else while charging |
Ability 2 is the Boss-mode tool. Ability 1 is the anti-rush tool. Both lean on the Supply Drop line, which is why the change below is the most consequential line in the patch for a Sniper player.
The Supply Drop rework is the CHIMPS headline
The notes are direct about it: this Paragon “arrives alongside an upgrade to the T4 Supply Drop”, and the Supply Drop line “gains added purpose even in CHIMPS mode now by activating Offensive Supply Drop.” The ability “upgrades the next few attacks with fiery shrapnel that pierces more, damages more, lasts longer, and can pop all Bloon types.” Both abilities on the Sniper share one cooldown, so a toggle swaps between Classic and Offensive behaviour. The balance section restates it as a control: “x4x Supply Drop ability can now toggle between Cash Drop & Ammo Drop.”
Why that toggle matters needs the mode rules. The wiki quotes the in-game description of CHIMPS as “No Continues, Hearts lost, Income, Monkey Knowledge, Powers or Selling”, and spells out the rest: standard CHIMPS uses Hard prices, starts on Round 6 and ends on Round 100, and beating it guarantees an Insta-Monkey. Income is disabled, which is the part that concerns a Sniper.
In every other mode, an x4x Sniper buys income, and the Cash Drop is the reason to own the upgrade at all. In CHIMPS, an income ability is a slot spent on nothing. Turning that same cooldown into a burst of piercing, all-type shrapnel converts a dead button into a save. The notes’ own reasoning is unusually candid: “outside of CHIMPS extra power was not needed, so we couldn’t make it too strong.” Ninja Kiwi then says the cleaner version — folding the bonus shrapnel pierce into higher power and uptime for the ability — “was too late for us to be comfortable cramming this into v57 - but this is already in consideration for v58.” So the toggle is the first version of a fix, not the settled one.
There is also a fix in the same file that reads like a joke and is not one: “Sniper Paragon should not be able to aim at the player.” That one sits under Tower Specific Fixes, and it is the sort of line that tells you more about a new tower than the feature bullet does.
Insta-Monkeys v2: what replaced the random packs
The notes explain the motive in one sentence: “while as card game players we love the idea of opening blind packs, world governments do not all agree about randoms for purchase.” The result is a different loop, not a trimmed store.
| Element | What v57 says | What it asks of a collector |
|---|---|---|
| Randomised Insta packs | Removed from the store entirely | No blind purchase path remains for Insta-Monkeys |
| Featured tab — Insta Store | 10 dedicated deals, identical for every player, unlocking across a week and resetting every 2 weeks | A schedule rather than a gamble |
| Offers 1 through 9 | Individual Insta-Monkeys, purchasable by IAP for 3 copies, or claimed with Monkey Money after a short gameplay goal | Goals are tuned to roughly one game, longer if a Tier 5 appears |
| Offer 10 | Rolls one item from premade bundles | The one remaining roll, on a curated pool |
| Freeplay Challenge | Same challenge for everyone, limited Heroes, a global tower limit, resets every 2 weeks | Completion unlocks a chest of 3 Insta rewards, 2 tailored to your collection |
| Monkey Teams | Beating round 100 without breaking a team “will attempt to roll one of the three monkeys from that team as the r100 Insta Reward” | Round 100 becomes a targeted pull, not a random one |
Two details are worth separating from the marketing. The Freeplay Challenge records your highest freeplay round but the notes say plainly that it “is not ranked”, so it is a comparison with friends, not a ladder. And the chest’s two tailored options mean progress on a specific tower is bought with time rather than money.
The wiki adds context the notes assume you already have. An Insta-Monkey is a one-time-use tower at a given upgrade, awarded for daily challenges, achievements, daily rewards and every hundredth round from round 100 onward, with tier ranges set by map difficulty. The same page states that Insta-Monkeys are “considered ‘Powers’ under the rules of CHIMPS Mode” — and since CHIMPS disables Powers, a CHIMPS run cannot be bailed out by a collection. Beating CHIMPS does, per the mode page, guarantee an Insta-Monkey reward, which is the cleanest loop in the patch: the hardest mode feeds the newest collection system.
One caveat on that source: the wiki’s Insta-Monkey page still describes buying “Insta-Monkey packs” with real money in the shop, which v57 removed. Read the notes for anything about the store and the wiki for anything about tiers, borders and how the drops are generated.
Paragon degrees: the change that outlasts the Paragon
Buried under “Other Balance” is the change that will still be shaping Boss runs long after the Sniper Paragon is old content.
| Contribution source | Before v57 | From v57 |
|---|---|---|
| Extra tower tiers | 10,000 max | 0 |
| Cash | 60,000 max | 80,000 max |
| Damage | 90,000 max | 125,000 max |
The notes’ justification is tedium, not power: “Contribution from Tiers of extra towers was a strong visual fit to what we wanted out of Paragons, but with a lot more Paragons now and more frequent use of them it has become a tedious aspect of the process.” Padding a degree with a field of cheap towers stops working; what replaces it is the cash you feed the upgrade and the pops and income the tower type has already produced.
The wiki’s Paragon page flags in its own text that the degree section still needs updating after v57, and states that after the change “It is now possible to reach a Degree 100 Paragon in single player only through pops and cash without Geraldo’s Totems.” That is the practical read: degree chasing moves from placement busywork to economy planning. The same page notes that only one Paragon of each tower type can exist per save, including in co-op, and that the sacrificial Tier 5 towers can be rebought afterwards — the detail that decides whether you build the Paragon or hold the Tier 5s.
Other numbers a plan should account for
The notes also move several figures that a CHIMPS or Boss plan touches.
| Change | Number | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| Crossbow Master projectile count | 1 > 2, cooldown 0.2375s > 0.475s, pierce stays 8 | Two projectiles per volley for the same total rate |
| Bomb Blitz ability | Once per round | No round-long passive retriggering |
| Glue Splatter / Glue Strike | $970 > $650 and $4000 > $4500 | Earlier splatter, later strike |
| Bloon Trap | Base cash now granted immediately, only bonus cash stored | Same total, half of it earlier |
| Boss Rush milestones | Island 1 850 > 250 through Island 5 3350 > 5225 | Small teams reach the first milestones, big teams carry the top |
| Quincy | Focus toggle from Lv4: cooldown +25%, projectile speed +25%, range +20% | A precision option for early rounds |
One line in the Sniper block, “xx3 Semi-Automatic Sniper pierce 1 > REALLY 1”, is a joke at the notes’ own expense. Nothing turns it into a number, so do not plan around a figure there.
What the notes do not confirm
Several things a buyer or planner might want are absent or open.
- Console timing. The notes say “V54 is out on Xbox and Switch. This build is in the pipe (submitted) for PlayStation, no ETA just yet”, with “one more console update to v56” planned for all three platforms by the end of the year. Console players are not on 57.0, and the PlayStation submission has no date.
- Update 58’s contents. A new Monkey Tower is promised without a name, alongside “Mod System v1”, “over 10 new Monkey Knowledges”, a player level cap increase, and Social Seasons 4 and 5 — all undated.
- The Sniper Paragon’s price and degree table. Neither appears in the official notes. The wiki’s figures are the only ones I could verify, and they are wiki figures.
- A release date discrepancy. The wiki dates S.P.I.D.E.R. Monkey’s release to 6 October 2026; the Steam announcement is timestamped 8 October 2026 in Ninja Kiwi’s own feed. I have used the Steam date throughout.
