FromSoftware and Bandai Namco Entertainment have rolled out Elden Ring update 1.25 today, September 8, across all platforms. The patch is a compact 250 MB download on consoles, functioning as a targeted hotfix rather than a content drop.
Multiplayer Item Exploit Fix
The sole documented change in update 1.25 addresses a multiplayer issue. Under specific conditions, players could obtain DLC-specific items when they were not normally eligible. This closes an exploit tied to the Tarnished Edition content that was introduced in the preceding patch. Bandai Namco confirmed that no additional content ships with this update.
Tarnished Pack DLC Content
For context, the Tarnished Pack DLC — included by default in the Elden Ring Tarnished Edition for Nintendo Switch 2 — adds several content elements. Two new starting classes, Idus Knight and Heavy Knight, are now selectable during character creation. Their equipment can also be acquired through merchants in the Lands Between or discovered in the world.
Additional weapons have been added, available for purchase from merchants or found scattered across the map.
Three Spectral Steed Attire options change the appearance of Torrent:
- Tree Sentinel Spectral Steed Attire — found in Stormveil Castle
- Silver of Caria Spectral Steed Attire — found in Liurnia of the Lakes
- Funereal Night Spectral Steed Attire — found in Altus Plateau
Once any attire is obtained, a spectral steed appearance option appears in the Site of Grace menu.
Two NPC invasion events were also introduced: one in Caelid and another in Leyndell, Royal Capital. The Leyndell event will not trigger after the area transitions to Leyndell, Ashen Capital.
Patch Scope
Update 1.25 follows last week’s larger patch that delivered the Tarnished Edition content alongside extensive gameplay fixes. Today’s hotfix is limited strictly to the DLC item eligibility fix, with no balance changes or quality-of-life adjustments included.
