Gameplay & Systems

Revelation introduces the FITS system, a role-based ability framework with four specializations: Warrior, Knight, Black Mage, and Summoner. Gameplay footage shows Cid and Vincent equipped with the Knight and Summoner FITS, respectively. Both are newly playable characters in this entry.

Players can freely swap their active controlled character and full party composition at any point during world exploration. A new grappling gun enables rapid traversal, letting players scale rooftops and move quickly through the environment. Quest party selection influences narrative outcomes, altering how certain events and scenarios unfold.

Exploration centers on an open planet traversable via the Highwind airship. The Chocobo mount, Piko, grows alongside the party and learns new traversal and combat abilities over time.
