Throne and Liberty launched on October 1, 2024 — free-to-play on PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, developed by NCSOFT with Amazon Games as global publisher. The launch announcement describes the system at the heart of every build: the Weapon Combination System “enables players to swap between any two weapons in their loadout to entirely change their playstyle, without adhering to a specific class or skill set.” Each loadout mixes 12 active skills, eight passive skills, and one defense skill drawn from both equipped weapons, and the seven launch-era weapons combine into 21 named pairings.

One of those pairings keeps coming up whenever PvP players talk about deleting someone inside a single stun window: Greatsword plus Daggers, which the game’s naming scheme files under the class name Ravager.

What it covers: Why Greatsword and Daggers pair, the stun-to-burst skill chain, stealth as opener and exit, skill priorities, and stat weighting for the Ravager in PvP. Why it matters: Greatsword crowd control converts into bonus damage and guaranteed hits for Dagger burst skills, and Dagger stealth resets mistakes — the loop that makes this combo a small-scale PvP assassin. Who should pick this: Players farming arena, open-world PvP, and guild-war pick duty who want lockdown plus one-window kills.

Why Greatsword and Daggers pair so well

The two weapons cover each other’s weaknesses by design. A developer weapon-balance notice, published through the official notice system and mirrored in English by the fansite GamesLantern, describes the Greatsword’s combat mechanic as “designed to maximise damage through powerful status ailments and linked skills,” while the Daggers are “designed to be a ‘one-shot’ skill mechanic with a long cooldown, but high damage in an instant.” Put both briefs in one loadout and you get the Ravager loop: the Greatsword applies the disable and pays bonus damage for it, and the Daggers land the instant, crit-scaled finish.

Questlog’s weapon-combo breakdown files Greatsword/Dagger as a combo that “can focus on being either a Bruiser or as an Assassin,” with players usually leaning assassin “thanks to the versatility of Daggers” — high burst potential that lets you “get in, deal damage and then escape using Dagger’s defensive abilities like stealth.”

Maxroll’s Ravager PvP build guide (updated January 8, 2026) opens with an ArcheAge comparison — “this is the Darkrunner of Throne and Liberty” — and explains why the combo’s survivability never costs it damage: “thanks to passive skills like Vital Force and Cold Warrior its damage output is high even while stacking large amounts of HP.” The same guide counts the lockdown kit — “2 Binds, 2 Stuns, and 1 Prone” — plus the ability “to engage from over 24m,” and concludes “there’s nobody you can’t lockdown and kill, making for the perfect Melee Assassin.”

Dot Esports’ build guide reaches the same conclusion from the stat side: the Greatsword “has a great passive that scales with Max Health, so stacking Health is mandatory,” which makes the bruiser and the assassin the same build. Alcast’s Greatsword/Dagger guide calls the pairing “most naturally suited to dealing huge bursts of damage to a target, which is a good fit for PvP.”

The lockdown chain: Greatsword CC into Dagger burst

The Ravager’s kill window is a relay: every skill either applies a disable or deals amplified damage against one. The chain below is assembled from the published skill values.

Chain stepSkillWeaponWhat it does
EngagePrecision DashGreatswordRushes the target for 110% base damage (+16% per meter traveled) and grants +160 Heavy Attack Chance for 3s on hit
OpenerShadow StrikeDaggersMoves behind the target for 200% base damage, with an 80% chance to Bind for 2s and apply Silence: Poison for 6s
Hard CCStunning BlowGreatsword150% base damage with an 80% chance to Stun for 3.9s; Stun-immune targets are Shocked for 7.8s, and stunned targets lose 5% defense
Amplified hitDeath BlowGreatsword470% + 257 damage; +30% damage against Bound, Sleeping, Shocked, or Stunned targets
KnockdownAscending SlashGreatswordHigh-damage strike that applies Collision: Prone to Bound, Sleeping, or Stunned targets
Prone punisherGuillotine BladeGreatsword820% + 142 damage, climbing to 1066% + 184 against Prone or Shocked targets
ExecuteBrutal IncisionDaggers620% + 212 damage; when the target is at 50% health or below, gains +600 Critical Hit and +40% Critical Damage

Skill values from the Metabattle skills database; Ascending Slash from Deltia’s Greatsword build guide.

The payout logic is the point. Death Blow gains 30% damage against exactly the states Shadow Strike and Stunning Blow create, and Guillotine Blade’s damage climbs against the Prone and Shocked targets the rest of the chain produces. MMOMMO. Massively Multiplayer Online — a game that hosts very large numbers of players together in one shared, persistent world. Chronicles’ 2026 class guide compresses the relay into one line — the sequence of “Precision Dash → Stunning Blow → Prone knockdown” finishing with Guillotine Blade deals “guaranteed fatal damage to fallen targets,” and the knockdown “cannot be removed by basic cleanses.”

Brutal Incision is the exit door: when the target is at half health or below, its critical hit and critical damage bonuses turn the window the chain opened into a kill. Around the core sit the support pieces: Willbreaker strips 720 from every defense type for 6 seconds, Ankle Strike gives the Daggers their own 96%-chance knockdown against disabled targets, and Fatal Stigma detonates a 405% base-damage mark that grows by 9.8% per Poison stack on the target.

Stealth: the opener, the reset, and the exit

Camouflage Cloak is the signature: per the Metabattle database, it makes you “Stealthed for 10.5s, unable to be targeted,” and “your first attack while Stealthed is a guaranteed Critical Hit.” That is an opener (start the chain from invisibility with a guaranteed crit) and an exit in one button.

The defense skill is where the combo gets its reset. Block Blade, the Daggers’ defensive option, regenerates 852 mana on a stationary parry and changes into Poison Dagger for 3 seconds; used with a direction input, a defended Fury Attack drops you into 3 seconds of untargetable stealth where “the first attack while Stealthed is a Critical Hit.” MMO Chronicles frames the same skill in PvP terms: perfect timing on Block Blade “drops target-lock for all attacking enemies and grants instant stealth.” The Greatsword’s Iron Point Parry is the tankier alternative — a parry timed within half a second deals damage with an 80% chance to stun the attacker for 3 seconds — but the Ravager’s identity is the re-stealth, not the counter-stun.

Two passives extend the loop. Shadow Walker grants +14 Damage Reduction and +690 Magic and Ranged Evasion for 6 seconds after a mobility skill — cover for the run in and the run out. Assassin’s Step triggers on a kill: +20% Attack Speed, +84 Mana Regen, and +37.2% Move Speed for 6 seconds, extended to 9 at night, which turns one pick into a second engagement. Phantom Smokescreen, a special growth skill on the Daggers, blankets nearby party members so they evade all magic and ranged projectiles for 3 seconds — the smoke cover MMO Chronicles credits with “massive evasion spikes” in small-scale fights.

Skill priorities and specializations

SkillRoleSpecialization to take
Stunning BlowHard CCHit Chance Increase; Effect Duration Increase
Death BlowAmplified hitCooldown Reduction
Guillotine BladeProne punisherAoE Damage
Brutal IncisionExecuteThunderclouds Bombing
Inject VenomDoT engineLightning Infusion
Cleaving MoonlightFillerConsecutive Use; Attack Speed Increase
Fatal StigmaDelayed burstDamage Increase
Valiant BrawlMulti-hitCruel Smite

Specializations per Dot Esports’ build; the Inject Venom swap per Game8.

The Thundercloud engine is the sustained damage underneath the burst: Game8’s build notes that the Lightning specializations make Inject Venom and Umbral Spirit “apply Thunderclouds, shredding the target’s defenses,” stacking toward the 20-stack maximum, while Brutal Incision’s Thunderclouds Bombing specialization detonates those stacks for bonus damage. Dot Esports’ rotation sequences the whole engine — stun the target, build Thunderclouds with the filler skills, then consume them at 20 stacks.

On passives, the published builds agree on the spine: Vital Force, Cold Warrior, Destructive Fang, Assassin’s Instincts, Wrathful Edge, and Murderous Energy, with Robust Constitution and Victor’s Morale filling the defensive slots. One launch-era caveat from PCGamesN: the Dagger’s Destructive Fang passive “changed from increasing your crit chance to reducing the target’s melee, ranged, and magical defense” at the global launch. It still earns its slot — every Poison application now softens the target for the whole chain — and the crit passives carry the damage: Vicious Fangs adds +326 Critical Hit against poisoned targets, Wrathful Edge adds +18% Critical Damage, and Assassin’s Instincts adds +290 flat Critical Hit.

Weapon Mastery has moved since the launch guides. Dot Esports’ recommendations — Greatsword points into Incapacitate and Face Off, Dagger points into Poison and Assassination — belong to the old mastery board; MMO Chronicles reports the system has since been rebuilt into a 200-level tree with Attack, Defense, Support, and Tactics branches, plus Mastery Conversion Books that move invested levels between weapons. The direction is unchanged even if the board is not: stun duration and hit on the Greatsword side, poison and crit on the Dagger side.

Stat weighting for a health-scaled assassin

AttributeWhat it scalesWeighting for Ravager PvP
StrengthMax Health, base defense, health regen, heavy attack chanceFirst — reaching 50 adds Max Health, Damage Reduction, and Heavy Attack Chance; milestone bonuses land at 30/40/50/60/70
DexterityCritical hit chance, critical damage, attack speed, evasionSecond
PerceptionHit chance, crowd control duration, debuff applicationThird — hit chance is a PvP requirement
WisdomMax mana, mana regeneration, cooldown reductionLast — spare points only

Attribute effects per MMO Chronicles; priority order and milestones per Dot Esports; the 50-Strength milestone per Game8.

The counterintuitive part is that Strength is the offensive stat for this build. Vital Force converts every 100 points of current Health into +2.02 Hit, +0.25 Skill Damage Boost, and +0.425 Stun Chance, and Cold Warrior adds +288 Heavy Attack Chance and +90 Critical Hit against Shocked or Stunned targets. Health is damage, landing, and crowd-control chance in a single stat — which is why Maxroll’s guide treats a health-stacked Ravager as a damage threat rather than a punching bag.

On gear, Dot Esports ranks the traits: Hit Chance, Critical Hit Chance, Strength, Max Health, Health Regen, Stun Chance, then Evasion. Game8’s endgame examples show the ceiling: accessories like the Clasp of the Conqueror roll Max Health +600, Stun Chance +100, and Skill Damage Boost +80, and Greatsword effects such as Tevent’s Warblade of Despair detonate an area dealing 325% base damage whenever the wearer applies Collision, Shock, or Stun with Greatsword skills — the crowd-control chain literally triggers gear.

Where the Ravager stands in late-2026 Solisium

The official launch-day post describes Throne and Liberty as “a free-to-play game that revolves around guild-focused combat,” with battles against “dozens to thousands of other players” running all the way up to Castle Sieges — the format our Throne and Liberty siege deep dive covers in detail.

The weapon pool has widened since launch: ArzyeLBuilds’ weapons guide now lists ten available weapons, with the Spear, the Orb, and the Gauntlet joining the original seven, and Questlog’s build directory still files Ravager — Greatsword plus Daggers — under DPS. MMO Chronicles’ PvP tier assessment splits the verdict: the Ravager is “the undisputed nightmare of small-scale formats,” but in mass sieges it is vulnerable on open fields under archer crossfire while remaining “devastating inside tight castle corridors and throne room breaches for assassinating priority targets.” The practical read: play the Ravager as a corridor assassin and pick hunter, not a frontline bruiser.

One systemic caveat comes from the developers themselves: the official weapon-balance guidance states that “All ‘crowd control skills’ will have their duration reduced” to give defenders more reaction windows and raise tension in PvP. The chain still kills — but it has to land fast. And because the endgame trait grind is where these stats actually come from, the Lucent and Auction House economy is part of the build path too.
